One of the larger road construction projects to impact travel in Grand Forks this summer will begin next week.
Crews will be closing South Washington from 48th Avenue South to 57th Avenue South starting Monday, (5/1) for a reconstruction project. Detour signs will be posted.
The work includes removing the current 25 foot rural roadway in favor of a four-lane concrete urban road with curb and gutter. A box culvert would also be installed to act as a pedestrian underpass. The work includes a traffic signal at the intersection of 55th Avenue South.
The price-tag is estimated at around $6.6 million dollars. Most of the work would be completed during the 2023 construction season – with a final completion date set for 2024.
