The hiring of an architectural firm to assist with courthouse dome repairs will have to wait a little longer.
The Grand Forks County Commission rejected the lone project bid on Tuesday. The proposal did not include a required bid bond. County Administrator Tom Ford says in talking with industry reps the issue of a bid bond is no longer a business standard. As a result the county will rebid the services without the requirement in the hopes of attracting more firms.
Repairs to the 109-year old copper dome have been pegged at between $3.8 and $5.4 million dollars.
