A North Dakota conference committee is still wrestling with competing tax relief proposals.
The plans include reducing income taxes…additional property tax buy-downs…and expanding the Homestead Credit. The House-Senate committee already has nine meetings under its belt without reaching a compromise.
Committee Chair Representative Craig Hedlund says the clock is ticking. “If we walk away from this session starting with a $2.7 billion surplus and we can’t come to agreement on a tax package…God help us.”
The Finance and Taxation Committee has another meeting on tap today (Wednesday) but HB1158 is not on the agenda.
