An East Grand Forks man who hit a home with a rifle shot while taking aim at a squirrel was sentenced to unsupervised probation on Tuesday. Michael Powers appeared in Polk County District Court. The 76-year old Powers was arrested after police say he fired a shot that hit the house on December 4th. As part of the sentence Powers will also perform community service and forfeit his firearm. He was charged with dangerous weapons-reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality. Police recovered two .22-caliber rounds from the siding of a neighbor’s home and one from a bedroom window ledge.
