After four years as president at the University of Minnesota, Joan Gabel is leaving to become the next chancellor at the University of Pittsburgh, effective July 1st.
Gabel was the first woman to lead the U of M and will be the first woman to lead the University of Pittsburgh.
Before coming to Minnesota, Gabel was an executive vice president at the University of South Carolina for four years after spending five years at the University of Missouri as dean of the College of Business.
