The Grand Forks School District may enlist the services of a consultant to help determine the next step for bringing the Central High School pool back on line.
District staff did a walk-through on Wednesday with those in the know about pools and came away more optimistic regarding the potential cost of remediation. A preliminary figure presented to the school board in January put the project price-tag between $1 and $3 million dollars.
The pool was shuttered two years ago due to moisture problems inside the building. Still to be determined is what if any damage may have occurred during the down time.
Grand Forks swim teams have been utilizing the UND Hyslop pool – but that complex is slated to close in July 2024.
The school board will likely be asked to weigh-in at a future meeting.
