PCSO says goodbye to K9 Buffy

By Doug Barrett Mar 10, 2023 | 8:12 AM

Due to an undisclosed medical condition Buffy is retiring from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department.

Over the past three years the four-legged K-9 officer was involved in 60 calls for service ranging from tracking and building searches to searches for drugs at schools…homes…and at the Tri County Community Correctional Center.

The PCSO says the decision about retirement was made after several vet visits including trips to the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center. She will remain with K-9 handler / Deputy Kyle Olson and his family.

The K-9 program will continue to K-9 Rex and the department plans to add an additional K-9 in the near future.
