EGFFD responds to American Crystal fire

One person was injured during a fire at the American Crystal plant in East Grand Forks on Monday. The East Grand Forks Fire Department responded to the blaze shortly after 5:00 p.m. When crews arrived on scene they found flames coming from a pulp dryer and extending into a bag house. Once the equipment was cooled American Crystal workers opened the hatch doors and the remaining fire was extinguished. Fire personnel remained on the scene for about three-and-a-half hours. One American Crystal employee was transported by Altru ambulance for treatment of injuries. A damage estimate was not released.
