Grand Forks may form an advisory group to help identify potential snowmobile routes in the city – including the Greenway.
The city council denied a request by the Red River Snowmobile Club last year to access the Greenway after a route along 42nd Street was deemed to be too dangerous. Critics of the Greenway plan cite safety and noise concerns. In addition motorized vehicles are prohibited from using the Greenway.
City Administrator Todd Feland says the goal of the committee is to bring all sides together to see if a compromise can be reached.
Council President Dana Sande says he’ll listen to the ideas – but it would take a lot to change his mind.
The goal is to have a new route in place before next winter.
