The University of St. Thomas, a private Catholic university in St. Paul, plans to use a $75 million donation to build a new arena for basketball and hockey games and other events. The school said the donation from Lee and Penny Anderson is the largest in school history. The school is in its second year in Division I athletics in most sports. School officials said the new arena will help the school’s efforts to expand its reputation outside the Twin Cities. The arena is expected to open in 2025. Anderson owned Roseville-based APi Group, Inc., a holding corporation of about 30 construction, manufacturing and fire-protection companies.
