GF mulls over 2023 legislative priorities

By Doug Barrett Oct 25, 2022 | 8:52 AM

With another legislative session rapidly approaching the city of Grand Forks is putting together a roadmap of priorities to navigate when lawmakers return to Bismarck in 2023.

The list ranges from water and public safety to economic development and securing funding for large transportation projects.

Right now the city has the 42nd Street grade separation and 47th Avenue interchange on the “wish list.” Council Member Ken Vien floated the idea of adding the intercity bridge to the priority list.  City Administrator Todd Feland cautioned the council against putting too many “asks” on the table from a strategy standpoint.

A motion to add a bridge linking Grand Forks and East Grand Forks to the list failed on a 3-3 tie vote.

The council will talk more about the legislative package on November 7th.
