A nine-year-old boy from New Town was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident this (Thu) morning while walking on a road.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, it happened around 7:00 AM on Highway 23, some four miles west of New Town.
Troopers say the boy was walking in the westbound lane when he was hit by an SUV driven by a 27-year-old New Mexico man.
They say the SUV continued heading west on 23. The vehicle was later located by McKenzie County Sheriff’s deputies.
The boy was airlifted to a Minot hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Troopers say charges are pending against the driver, who was not hurt.
