Friends and family gathered Friday at Hope Church in Grand Forks to pay their respects to Lynn Stauss.
The former East Grand Forks mayor died at his home Sunday at the age of 77.
Stauss served 21 years as the top elected official in East Grand Forks.
Paul Knight, lead pastor at Hope Church, said: “I pray, God, for this family, Father, as they say goodbye to a husband, a dad, a grandpa, a brother, an uncle, a person who was cared for by many, God, as we say goodbye to a beloved mayor.”
Knight revealed that the “USA” jacket Stauss wore during the 1997 flood and recovery will be “retired” in the East Grand Forks city council chambers.
Stauss will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks.
