A farmer who died in the murder suicide that left four people dead in Towner County is being remembered for the love of his family and dedication to agriculture.
56-year old Douglas Dulmage was a victim in the slaying Monday. Authorities have released the names of the other men found dead as 34-year old Justin Bracken…64-year old Richard Bracken of Leeds…and 59-year old Robert Bracken of Cando.
North Dakota Farm Bureau President Daryl Lies says it’s hard to understand why something like this would happen in a rural farming community.
Pat Traynor, a close friend of Dulmage, said Dulmage owned the property and was shot in his combine while harvesting wheat in his field south of Cando.
The Towner County Sheriff’s Department says a .357 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene in a wheat field where the shooting took place.
An autopsy on the bodies is underway. No motive has been established.
