A 28-year old Fargo man is in jail after he was shot by a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper following a series of events in Fargo late Tuesday afternoon.
The incident followed two hit and run crashes involving the suspect vehicle and a report of shots fired from a south side apartment balcony.
The reports started coming in shortly before 5:00 p.m.
North Dakota Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind says the first accident involved a motorcycle on I-29.
A short time later troopers began a pursuit and as the driver attempted to go east on I-94 a second crash occurred. “The male was shooting rounds as he exited the vehicle. There was a trooper on scene and returned fire striking the suspect two times.”
The suspect – identified as Maichael Yousa – was taken to a hospital for treatment and transferred to the Cass County Jail.
The motorcycle driver suffered life-threatening injuries in the first crash.
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
