EGF school lunch prices set

By Doug Barrett Jul 15, 2022 | 7:27 AM

The end of the federal free lunch program means school districts are returning to setting prices for meals.

The East Grand Forks School Board agreed this week to bump prices for student meals by 30 cents. The cost of an adult meal will be 50 cents higher than the 2019-20 school year.

Superintendent Mike Kolness says it’s important for families to be aware of the change.  “It’s going to be an adjustment for people.  We’ve also seen increased prices for commodities and significant costs just in operating.  We are going to be moving back to where we were prior to the pandemic.”

Milk bids are still under review.

Activity fees are also projected to climb about 10% for the 2022-23 school year.
