The East Grand Forks City Council has approved a $119,000 bid for drainage and pedestrian improvements at the VFW Arena.
The bid was awarded to Opp Construction.
Frost has heaved the concrete leading to the doors, creating a negative drain slope and ponding of water that flows into the arena.
Parks Superintendent Reid Huttunen told the council on Tuesday that it has been a nagging problem that could be solved with a permanent fix.
Meanwhile, the East Grand Forks swimming pool is closed today (Wed) — and has been for a few days — because of a pump problem.
The repair is expected to be complete today (Wed) and officials hope to re-open the pool on Thursday.
