Memorial Day was a soggy one for much of the region. The rain cancelled numerous outdoor events and observances.

On Sunday night a Tornado Warning was issued for northwest Grand Forks County. The National Weather Service issued multiple Severe Thunderstorm warnings for west central Minnesota on Monday.

Storm reports range from 60 to 70 mph winds in Otter Tail County to 1.5 inch hail in Wadena and large trees damaged near Bemidji and Detroit Lakes. There were also scattered power outages impacting thousands of Minnesota customers.

Damage assessment teams will survey tornado reports from Forada…West of Starbuck…Trusky…and Jasper in Minnesota. There were several other reports in eastern South Dakota.

Through 7:00 a.m. the NWS office in Grand Forks has measured 1.71 inches of rain during the past 24 hours.

Lingering showers are possible through the early afternoon.
