Grand Forks County will mail out some 30,000 postcards in June to help gauge support for adopting a Home Rule Charter.
Commission members approved the survey during a special meeting this morning (Tuesday). The board previously set aside funding to cover printing and postage – now estimated at $8,520 dollars.
A public meeting to talk about the survey is also being planned for next month.
Home Rule would give the county more leeway on adopting laws and policies – and open potential revenue streams like a local sales tax.
The postcard will steer recipients to the online survey. Paper copies will also be available at the Grand Forks County Office Building.
The issue of Home Rule could be on the November ballot.
