Mn Democrats endorse Walz and other candidates

By Doug Barrett May 21, 2022 | 6:04 PM

The 1,200 delegates at the state party convention wasted little time in endorsing Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon and State Auditor Julie Blaha for reelection.

They were all running unopposed for the party’s backing. The convention was mostly a pep rally to fire up activists, and a campaign training session to help overcome the headwinds the party is facing.

DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement after the DFL Party endorsed Tim Walz for Governor:  “The strong, steady, and successful leadership Governor Walz has shown while facing unprecedented challenges has earned the trust and respect of the people of Minnesota.”

The gathering  was a sharp contrast with last weekend’s wild Republican state convention, when it took delegates nine ballots to endorse Scott Jensen for governor.
