Grand Forks police have identified a deceased male victim found in the Red River north of the pedestrian bridge on Saturday as 32-year Jacob Lasley of Red Lake (MN). Lasley was reported missing on April 17th.
Police were notified of a body caught in a log jam around 6:00 p.m. When recovery teams arrived on scene they confirmed the witness report — the victim was transported to the UND Pathology lab for further examination.
In early April water rescue teams searched the river after a caller stated they spotted someone swimming from the shoreline north of the Sorlie Bridge. Based upon the timeline investigators believe Lasley was the subject in the river.
According to the GFPD there were no obvious signs of trauma – but the cause of death remains under investigation.
