Despite a healthy reserve UND President Andy Armacost says there are a few revenue signs that bear watching in the coming years.
Armacost told a meeting of the University Council that despite a 4% tuition bump state funding only increased from $179 million to $183 million dollars. He says state funding is based on credit hours and between 2018 and 2021 UND saw those hours drop by 30,000. “This should get our attention but what it is representative of is an increase in online classes which have doubled the past yew years and a gentle decline in on-campus students. Online students are more likely to take fewer courses than on-campus.”
Armacost says funding reserves across the campus have grown to $110 million dollars. Research funding also climbed from $110 to $143 million dollars during the past year.
