Work begins this week on the latest downtown reconstruction project. Crews will close off North 4th Street from DeMers Avenue through the intersection at 1st Avenue North.
The reconstruction is expected to address the street from face of building to face of building and follow the decorative elements that were used on Demers Avenue and North 3rd Street. According to a staff report the exact year that North 4th Street was constructed is unknown – it was resurfaced in 1938.
The low bid on the project was $1.75 million dollars. The entire project is expected to be completed by mid-October.
