The East Grand Forks Planning and Zoning Commission has helped pave the way for an asphalt plant on the edge of town.
R.J. Zavoral & Sons is eyeing a site near County Road 17 and west of Highway 2. Despite objections from some nearby landowners the P-and-Z approved a special use permit for the project on a 5 to 1 vote. Several nearby residents expressed concerns about odor… environmental issues…and traffic.
The recommendation will now go to the city council at a meeting April 19th. The council could consider a setting hours of operation and the length of the permit.
