  1. Over two dozen vehicles were involved in a series of crashes south of Grand Forks this evening.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the chain-reaction crashes occurred around 6:00 p.m. on I-29 near mile marker 132 – about 6 miles south of Grand Forks.

In addition, several other vehicles ran off the roadway into the median and ditches. The NDHP says an estimated 15-20 vehicles were involved in various
crashes in the incident area, with others having run off the roadway. All injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

A post by Grand Forks Emergency Management put the total number of vehicles at 25.

Northbound traffic was said to be heavy at the time. Snow and blowing snow were creating intermittent white-out conditions, and roadways were slippery.

The NDHP reminds motorists to use extra care and adjust their driving and speed accordingly for weather and road conditions.  The crashes remain under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
