The issue of a fourth neighborhood bridge could come before the Grand Forks council as soon as next month.
An ad hock bridge committee recently completed an analysis of potential river crossings at Elks and 32nd Avenue South.
City Administrator Todd Feland says the next step is to decide how to move the project forward. “More importantly where do we go from here.”
The neighborhood bridge has been a priority project for leaders in East Grand Forks. Feland says Grand Forks is also advancing plans for an underpass at 42nd and another I-29 interchange. “These two projects are more in our funding…the bridge is not right now. So when it comes back to you (council) I think the decision you will have is to pick a location and to agree to move forward with an environmental assessment.”
The analysis didn’t recommend a bridge location but gave greater cumulative benefits to the 32nd Avenue crossing site.
A date for the March meeting has not been set.
