Canadian truckers slow roll vaccine protest

By Doug Barrett Feb 3, 2022 | 1:30 PM

Truckers north of the border have been telling government leaders what they think of vaccine mandates affecting their sector.  At issue is a COVID vaccination mandate for trucks who drive cross border routes.

On different days this week a number of Manitoba truck drivers used a slow roll at the border crossing at Emerson to voice their displeasure.  On Wednesday protestors lined Highway 75.

A spokesman at the Pembina Port in North Dakota tells KNOX News the truckers were peaceful and they didn’t disrupt traffic crossing over the border.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says “Over 75% of U.S.-Canada trade moves by truck,” Goehring says “Forcing this vaccine mandate on the industry will hurt the livelihoods of truckers, create further supply chain disruptions.”

Prime Minister Trudeau calls the protestors…’a very troubling, small but very vocal minority of Canadians.’
