
A man behind a nearly two-billion dollar plan for a crypto-currency mining data center near Williston has a long criminal background in Nevada. Rick Tabish was convicted and later found not guilty in the 1998 murder of Las Vegas casino executive. He served 10 years in prison for burglary, conspiracy, extortion and other crimes related to the case. Tabish was paroled in 2010. Governor Doug Burgum announced the project, calling it the largest such data center of its type in the world. Burgum’s office says they are familiar with the criminal background of Tabish. He has been doing business in North Dakota for about 10 years in the gas and oil industry.
