ND Health launches project to understand COVID-19 immunity

By Doug Barrett Jan 7, 2022 | 8:54 AM

The North Dakota Health Department will partner with the University of North Dakota and NDSU to better understand COVID-19 immunity.

The study is funded through a grant from the CDC and will focus the level of immunity from natural infection…vaccination…or both.  North Dakota Health Officer Dr. Nizar Wehbi says the feedback will help shape public health response to COVID and other public health emergencies in the future.

One portion of the study will involve surveys collected from residents across the state.  The second phase will involve a survey with blood and saliva samples collected from volunteers in Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Letters of invitation to participate will be sent out in the coming weeks.  The data collection will cover a period of 18 months.  Those who participate in testing events are eligible to receive up to a maximum amount of $50.
