GFPD investigating downtown assault complaint

By Doug Barrett Dec 30, 2021 | 9:08 AM

No charges have been filed in connection with an assault near downtown Grand Forks on Wednesday.  Police were called to the Hugo’s store on DeMers Avenue around 1:00 p.m. for a report of a woman bleeding from the head.

The woman told police she was assaulted by a male acquaintance in a nearby apartment complex at 204 North 6th Street.  Altru ambulance transported the victim for further medical attention.

Efforts to contact the male by phone were unsuccessful so law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the apartment where the incident took place.  Grand Forks Regional SWAT…Bomb…UAS…and a K-9 team located the individual inside the unit.

Authorities say based on evidence at the scene – and interviews of both parties – no arrests have been made.  Police add the investigation is active and ongoing.
