Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign coming up short

By Doug Barrett Dec 23, 2021 | 7:57 AM

With the clock ticking on the Red Kettle campaign, the Grand Forks Salvation Army is well short of its goal.

According to Maj. Paul Ferguson close to $88,000 had been raised as of Wednesday afternoon.

Ferguson says he hasn’t given up on reaching the goal of about $176,000.  “If we don’t make it through the kettles maybe a month later a big check will show up or a truck full of food.”

Ferguson says last week they found a surprise in one kettles.  “A Maple Leaf gold coin worth about $1,800 dollars.”

This month’s “Big Ring” event raised $37,000.

The Kettle campaign ends Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Ferguson says you can also donate by mail – or go to the local Salvation Army office at 1600 University Avenue.
