ND & MN deal with WX events

A massive storm ripped through parts of the Midwest overnight… bringing powerful winds and reports of several twisters.

Minnesota reported its first-ever December tornado. The town of Hartland – 95 miles south of Minneapolis – taking a direct hit.  Several commercial buildings have been destroyed.

Here in the Red River Valley a Winter Weather Advisory was posted overnight.  Light snow was whipped around by wind gusts of 40 mph.  Several rural schools started classes two hours late this morning.

The National Weather Service office in Grand Forks reported .8 inches of snow as of 7:00 a.m.
