A 29-year old Canadian citizen has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years for the illegal possession of firearms following a traffic stop in northwest Minnesota.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says Dayne Sitladeen was a passenger in a pickup clocked going 95-100 miles per hour on I-94 near Fergus Falls. As troopers approached the vehicle they reported the odor of marijuana and subsequently searched the vehicle.
According to court documents authorities found 67 firearms and 15 high capacity magazines. Law enforcement later discovered a provisional federal arrest warrant from the United States Marshals Service for Sitladeen on a 2019 Canadian arrest warrant for first degree homicide and fentanyl distribution.
A co-defendant in the case will be sentenced on December 14th.
