Authorities say a Grand Forks man faces multiple charges after allegedly kicking in the door of a stranger’s apartment and barricading himself inside.
Around 1:20 PM today (Wed), Grand Forks Police say 34-year-old Clifford Bays was riding a bicycle in the roadway and obstructing traffic in the 1300 block of Stanford Road.
He refused to stop for police… took off on the bike …. and entered an apartment building on the 3500 block of 11th Avenue North.
The suspect kicked in a door, entered an apartment, and barricaded the door.
A female later came to the door and told police she did not know the man, but said he ran to the back of the apartment.
Bays refused to come out of a bathroom, but after several minutes, he surrendered to police.
Police say Bays was arrested for Refusal to Halt, Burglary, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Bays also had two active warrants for his arrest — one from the North Dakota State Penitentiary and one from North Dakota Parole & Probation.
Bays was taken to Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
