Grand Forks County hit the century mark today (Tuesday) for deaths related to COVID-19.  Health officials upped the count by two – bringing the total to an even 100 since the start of the pandemic.

COVID cases have climbed to their highest levels since December 2020.  On a positive note health officials say there has also been an increase in vaccinations – with 2,750 arms getting jabbed during the week ending December 4th.  That compares to 672 shots the previous seven-day span.

The department’s Michael Dulitz says one in five kids ages 5 to 11 have started the vaccination process and 60% of students 12 to 18.  Dulitz says they’re also closing in on the original 60% vaccination goal for all age groups.

By comparison student vaccination rates in Fargo are 24% and 62% respectively…. Burleigh County 10% and 37%….and Ward County 6% and 34%.
