Fargo officials are warning the public that if you receive a call that appears to be from city hall…it could be a scam.
Telephone users in several states have reported receiving phone calls which appear to come from a number that matches the main line of Fargo City Hall. These calls have reportedly consisted of a common “grandparent scam” in which the caller pretends to be a grandchild in need of money.
The City of Fargo is aware the number being misrepresented, and asks anyone who receives a scam call to refrain from calling back.
The City’s Information Services Department is working with its telephone service provider to explore all possible remedies to the issue.
