GF development agreement with Fufeng being drafted

By Doug Barrett Nov 16, 2021 | 8:29 AM

A development agreement is in the works between Grand Forks and leaders of the China-based Fufeng Group that plans to locate a corn milling facility in the city.

The council last night (Monday) reviewed a large list of infrastructure projects needed to secure the deal on a 370 acre site in north Grand Forks.  The cost of the work is pegged around $93 million dollars.

Keith Lund of the Grand Forks EDC says the company will be using 6.6 million gallons of raw water from the Red River per day…release 3.1 million gallons of wastewater…and double the demand for natural gas in the city.

City Administrator Todd Feland says the next two construction seasons will be busy ones.

Even with proposed breaks the company is expected to generate some $590 thousand dollars in new tax revenue during the first year of operation – and employ over 230 workers.

The council is expected to see a rough draft of the development agreement before the end of the year.
