COVID vaccination inching up in GF County

By Doug Barrett Nov 16, 2021 | 8:16 AM

Grand Forks health officials say they are pleasantly surprised at the number of school age kids coming forward to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

The department’s Michael Dulitz briefed council members on the latest numbers last night (Monday).  Dulitz says while they have seen an increase in new cases as of late there has also been an uptick in people getting jabbed.  “About 11% of the population in the 5-11 age group have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.  The 12-18 age group we are at roughly 58%.”

Dulitz says that may be in part because a large portion of the new cases have occurred in young people.

Grand Forks County has a full vaccination rate of 51.5% compared to a statewide average of 46.5%.
