Governor Doug Burgum wasted little time in signing legislation that provides $211 million in income tax relief over the next two years.
The bill approved by lawmakers last week last provides up to $350 dollars per year for individuals and $700 dollars for individuals filing a married joint return.
Supporters say the bill eliminates state income tax liability for approximately 210,000 returns – or 300,000 taxpayers.
The bill passed the House 92-0 and the Senate 40-7.

The tax relief will be funded from the state’s $412 million excess general fund balance from the 2019-21 biennium.
