Kids’ turn arrives for COVID-19 shots

By Doug Barrett Nov 3, 2021 | 9:10 AM

COVID shots for kids are good to go.  The Centers for Disease Control have given their final authorization for Pfizer’s COVID-vaccine for children ages 5-to-11.  The kids’ shot is one-third the adult dose.

Grand Forks County health officials say that opens the door for thousands of young residents who are able to be vaccinated.

Health Director Debbie Swanson says shots will be available at public health sites as well as primary care and family practice locations.  “We have heard that some of the schools are reluctant to have vaccination programs in their schools.”

The vaccine requires two shots three weeks apart.   Children who get vaccinated before Thanksgiving will be fully covered by Christmas.
