Two Grand Forks physicians have been honored by the North Dakota Medical Association.

Dr. Casey Ryan is the recipient of the 2021 Physician Community & Professional Services award for outstanding leadership and service to North Dakota.

Ryan was president of Altru Health System from 1997 to 2014.  Ryan also teaches at the UND School of Medicine and has been involved with multiple diabetes societies. Ryan currently serves as chair of the State Board of Higher Education.

Also, Dr. James Miles was honored with the 2021 COPIC  Humanitarian Award for his volunteer medical services and contributions to the community.

Nominated by Make-a-Wish North Dakota, the organization says Miles has left an indelible mark on children across North Dakota as one of three board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric neurologists in the state, and for his volunteer work supporting children with critical or life-threatening illnesses.

(COPIC is a medical liability insurance provider)
