EERC gets $5M Dept. of Energy grant

By Pat Sweeney Oct 15, 2021 | 5:44 PM

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded approximately $5 million to UND’s Energy & Environmental Research Center.

The money will support the EERC-led Plains CO2 Reduction Partnership, which works to develop commercial-scale transportation and storage of carbon emissions across a 13-state region and in four Canadian provinces.

It accelerates implementation of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies.

Sen. John Hoeven’s office made the announcement on Friday.

On Thursday, DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm met with Hoeven, Gov. Doug Burgum and energy officials at the EERC to discuss CCUS issues.
