Round one deadline for CTE grants is Thursday

The deadline for the first round of grants for new and expanding career and technology centers is Thursday.

North Dakota Center for Career and Technical Education director Wayde Sick says the 2021 Legislature made $70 million available from the Capital Projects Fund of the federal American Rescue Plan Act. Sick says it has been split into two grant rounds.

Sick says what will set the applications apart is having multiple school districts partnering together, as well as partnerships with post-secondary education, and workforce.

Sick says those programs need to align with in-demand occupations.

Grand Forks is hoping to establish a CTE on the site of the former Grand Forks Inn & Suites off Gateway Drive.  The second round grant deadline is December 1^st.

Grant awards will range from $500,000 to $10 million – and they must be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
