Altru Announces COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements for Employees

By Doug Barrett Aug 11, 2021 | 1:48 PM

Another health care system is making COVID-19 vaccinations mandatory for all its employees. Altru Health is requiring all workers to get shots by November 15.
Altru President Dr. Steven Weiser says with increasing variants across the country it is imperative to maximize the safety of staff…patients…and community.
Employees can request an exemption for medical, religious or philosophical reasons. Those who have an approved exemption will be required to complete education modules, undergo regular testing for COVID-19 and follow other safety measures deemed necessary to maximize a safe environment of care.

An Altru spokesperson says they don’t know the exact number of employees already vaccinated – but it is a large percentage of the staff.  They hope to have more precise date in the coming weeks.  All Altru staff are also required to wear face coverings and follow further safety protocols.

Over one hundred health systems across the country are choosing vaccination due to rising cases of COVID-19.
