A FLOOD WARNING was posted for a small part of northwest Grand Forks County where a slow moving thunderstorm on Thursday dumped a radar estimated 4-9 inches of rain in just 90 minutes time. The system flooded fields near Larimore and washed out county roads. Flooding was also reported along the North Branch Turtle River. The NWS says they have a measured report of six inches of rain.
It comes at a time when much of the U.S. remains stuck in a drought. The latest models suggest 46% of the lower 48 states are in drought. The drought is impacting 185.3 million acres of cropland. The NWS puts Grand Forks County in a severe drought status. Central areas of North Dakota are in the exceptional drought category.
