Pendleton found guilty on 2 murder counts, 5 other charges

By Pat Sweeney Jul 14, 2021 | 4:13 PM

After about ten hours of deliberation…the jury in the Salamah Pendleton trial delivered a verdict this (Wed) afternoon.

Pendleton was found guilty on seven of nine counts…including two charges for the murders of police officer Cody Holte and Pendleton’s mother, Lola Moore.

Pendleton was also found guilty of the attempted murder of sheriff’s deputies Kelly McLean and Ron Nord… and guilty on charges of terrorizing, reckless endangerment and possession with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana.

Pendleton was found not guilty of the attempted murder of police Cpl. Pat Torok … and of criminal mischief.

The verdicts were read at approximately 3:35 PM.

Pendleton’s face was not visible on a Zoom feed while the verdicts were read.  He did not appear to show any emotion after the announcement.

The charges were in connection with a  shootout in Pendleton’s south Grand Forks apartment on May 27, 2020.

His attorney had argued that while Pendleton caused the deaths of his mother and officer Holte, he should perhaps be found guilty of a lesser charge than murder.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for October 15th.
