Hot asphalt pump sparks GF fire

By Doug Barrett Jul 12, 2021 | 8:35 AM

A hot pump is being blamed on a small fire at the CHS asphalt plant in Grand Forks on Sunday.

The Grand Forks Fire Department was called to the 2500 Block of North 42nd Street around 2:30 p.m. on a report of a grass fire.  When crews arrived they found the pump – which is used to circulate hot asphalt – on fire.

Power to the pump was cut and fire teams used multiple extinguishers to douse the flames.  Damage was put at around $3,000 dollars.
