Investigators continue testimony on Pendleton crime scene

Today (Thu) is Day Five of testimony in the murder trial of Salamah Pendleton… who’s accused in last year’s shooting deaths of his mother and Grand Forks Police officer Cody Holte.

For the second day in a row… North Dakota B-C-I investigators are being questioned about the crime scene in Pendleton’s apartment and surrounding area.

Prosecutor Ashli Neufeld asked BCI Special Agent Jeramie Quam what his first impressions were as he entered the apartment.

“It looked like a war zone,” he said. “(I) actually smelled blood. In the kitchen, there was broken glass on the floor, furniture was laying on the floor,  and there were bullet defects, it seemed like, in every wall of that apartment building.”

Quam also said there was blood on the floor and ceiling…and an “AK-style” weapon on the floor of a bedroom.

Special Agent Scott Kraft said when he first entered the crime scene, “What I observed was blood on the floor in the hallway, a deceased female in the bathroom. There were bullet holes in the window facing north, which would go across the courtyard to another building. A lot of, just bullet holes everywhere.”

Kraft told prosecutors that according to his analysis, Pendleton was responsible for the shot that killed his mother.

Again today, jurors saw numerous photos of the crime scene as the agents were questioned about their investigation.
