Wednesday was the fourth day of testimony in the murder trial of Salamah Pendleton…accused in last year’s shooting deaths of his mother and Grand Forks Police officer Cody Holte.
North Dakota B-C-I investigators were questioned on Wednesday, as jurors saw numerous photos of the crime scene in Pendleton’s apartment and surrounding area.
They said an AK-74 rifle and several boxes of ammunition were discovered in the apartment.
Special agent Edwin Carter told prosecutor Ashli Neufeld that it appeared that Pendleton was “getting himself ready.”
Carter explained: “He was arming himself, making sure he had enough magazines full of ammunition to sustain another volley against the law enforcement officers at the residence.”
Carter said a law dictionary was also found, opened to pages that included definitions of homicide and justifiable homicide.
He said marijuana and a digital scale were found on the premises, which led him to believe that distribution or sale of marijuana was occurring at the residence.
The trial resumes Thursday morning.
