The East Grand Forks retail landscape is about to grow with the addition of two new businesses coming to town.
Walgreens is looking to build a drug store on the site of the former Glitz Glam and Tan salon. The city has approved a demolition permit for the building at 1402 Central Avenue NW. The demo work is expected to get underway soon. Plans and specs on a new 2,500 square foot store have also been filed with planning officials.
Meanwhile….Economic Development Authority board members are being asked to approve a $150,000 dollar loan to assist in the purchase and fit-up of the former Shopko for use as a furniture store. The E-D-A will review the loan request from St. Michel LLC at a June 22nd meeting. The furniture store would occupy 30,000 square feet of space in the building with the remaining 10,000 set aside a secondary tenant. The total project cost is pegged at around $2.3 million dollars.
